Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Just popped in to share some of my Christmas decorations.  This year I decorated 3 trees, each with a different theme.  I also created a Christmas Garden/Village and Manger Scene at the top of my foyer and the ledges on the way upstairs.

I hope you enjoy the pictures as much as I enjoyed decorating.....I love Christmas!!!!!!!!
Beverly Reid

 10' Designer tree in foyer
It took 3 days to decorate.
I have pictures of the of the entire process if anyone is interested.
Close-up of the top.  You can see some of the Christmas Village above the tree
I used Red, Gold and some Green decorations

This is one of the wreaths that didn't sell at the last craft fair.
I hated to put it away until next year, so it's resting on my front door on the
inside for 1 more month.
View of the window at top with 3' Santa and 3 cone trees

 Dining Room
The Centerpiece is Tropical flowers and the chandelier has a huge organza bow with a draped gold garland.
There is also gold garland on top of the china cabinet with white lights at night.

This is the Manger Scene above the door to the living room, top left in foyer.
You can also see the "Memory" tree above it upstairs in the family room
Christmas Village above tree in foyer, top right
I used white lights with white wires for "stars" and covered them with sheets of cotton
I took all the lights out that came with the houses and stuffed them with the mini lights on a string.  Worked out great and didn't need to plug each house.
Now I'll take you up the steps for the rest of the villages.
As you can see from this picture, there are 4 layers.
Above the tree in foyer is the first layer.........
2nd layer going up the steps
 3rd layer
4th layer at the top of the steps
This one is in memory of my sister who gave the Scottish soldiers as a Christmas gift to my husband several years ago.  Santa is leading the parade
 Family Room
At the top of the entertainment center I had to place the baskets of greenery because I didn't want to put them in the attic to store.  They were on the ledges where the Christmas village is.  So I decorated them with white lights and Poinsettias.
I've collected Angels over the years, so I have some of them scattered around the room
This is the "Memory" tree in our family room upstairs
It's decorated with ornaments from family, friends, places we've visited,
My mom's ornaments and Dave's mom & grandmom's antique ornaments.
This one has the multi-color lights, vintage icicles and mesh netting with ribbons

Dave & I bought the Angel when we had our first tree in our first home

 OK.....going back downstairs
Mini tree fully decorated on landing with Santa & Sleigh
I hung huge ornaments in very long window with ribbon
The lights you see in bottom of window are the lights on tree outside
 Fireplace in living room
The very large wreath is made from left over ornaments and flowers
The candles are the stable deco, I just added pine garland, fruit, berries, flowers and gold and white beads and white LED lights
Normally I place real potted Poinsettias in front of the large candles on each side of the fireplace, but I found out that they are poison to animals.
Next year I'll get fake ones.
To the left of the fireplace are some of the Santas that Dave collects

Some of the Santas that Dave collects.  I put white lights to show them off and added berries to the vines

 Living Room
"Tropical" Christmas Tree
Notice the tropical Santa on coffee table LOL

Top of Tropical tree
All tropical ornaments that we're collected from places that we've been.
I used Leis and gold beads for garland and filled it in with tropical flowers and birds

Breakfast Nook
I made the centerpiece with small branches secured with wire.  It is made with pine greenery, 2 flowers, berries, pine cone and cinnamon stick with a red bow.  I place a garland of berries around it making a full centerpiece.

How to Make a Diaper Cake

By Beverly Reid

What goes in to making a Diaper Cake?  A lot!!!!!  Diapers are expensive today, so make sure you go online and get coupons. Go to the Dollar Store for all the baby items like lotion, powder, cotton swabs, bibs, bottles, wash cloths, curling ribbon etc.  You'll be surprised how much you can stuff in the "cake" and decorate the "icing".

First select if it's for a boy or girl or neutral if the gender is not known yet.  Next select a theme.....then the rest will come easy, just let your creative juices flow.

Lots of baby items, curling ribbon, cake liners,
small & extra large rubber bands, ribbon, doilies, flowers,
stuffed toys.  Try to stay away from using hot glue.
If you must use glue, then use the "snail" tape glue

There are kits available at hobby stores
Use plain diapers if you can find them
Roll diaper to show only white, then secure with rubber band
If you can't find the extra large rubber bands, use the curling ribbon
Use a round cardboard base or cake liner

Once all the diapers are rolled secure them with
the extra large rubber band.  Replace the middle
diapers with lotion, powder, baby oil, etc.
Start your next layers by placing a doily on top of first layer
Place rolled diapers in a circular shape
Secure with extra large rubber band
Remove diapers in middle and place whatever you want
I chose the box of swabs & cotton balls
Make the 3rd layer the same way
Roll bibs and wash cloths, socks, etc in middle
Use ribbon to cover the rubber bands
Do not remove bands
Tie a smaller matching bow on top of wide ribbon
Place doily on top of 2nd layer
For the topper, I used 2 layers of diapers and covered
them with a baby blanket, then tied the middle with
curling ribbon
Place whatever you want on the top
I place gift 3 boxes with baby items inside.
Place flowers under each bow and around the topper
Decorate with stuffed toys, rattles, teething rings,
Plastic diaper pins, etc.  Use the curling ribbon to
secure the small items and toys.  I used glue dots
for the paper decorations on the ribbon.
